Main activities:

Since 1st January 2004 I became Deputy Group leader of IT-AIS and section leader of Finance, Logistics & Purchasing (FLP) section. The section is responsible for the maintenance, operation and adaptation In 2003 I was Group Leader of the Internet Development Services Group of AS Division. Prior to that I was deputy Group Leader (since February 2000), and previously Section Leader of the EDH Section (October 1998). In order that we can adapt rapidly to the changing needs of the organisation and produce web-enabled application functionality in less time with less resources, a key goal in our group is to ensure a common development and architectural infrastructure amongst these in-house developed applicationsto to achieve our (and thus CERN's) objectives.

The applications for which are group are responsible include : EDH providing e-business for 6500+ users, HRT providing Human Resources Reporting to over 1000 users, CET providing financial management to over 1500 users and PPT/EVM providing project tracking to ATLAS & CMS and Earned Value Management software for the LHC project.

I feel strongly that because CERN is funded by European Taxpayers money we are all responsible for the careful use of resources at CERN. I am particurlalrly interested in both software development and applications which apply and achieve resource savings.

History:

I started in CERN as a six-month technical student from Brunel University in 1989. In 1990 I returned as a fellow for two years initially working as an IBM VM systems programmer on the CERNADP systems. With the start of AIS I worked on BHT, HRT and EDH. If we meet we can discuss in English or French, and having been brought up in Spain we could even try Spanish.

Personal Home Page

I don't have a personal home page, but outside interests include snowboarding, windsurfing, wakeboarding and mountain biking. I have been president of the CERN Ski Club for 5 years, and I'm also a member of the CCC (Committee Coordinating Clubs) where I'll try my best to support and encourage any person at CERN interested in setting up a new club or activity.
